How to Enable and Disable Aadhaar Biometric Lock Online / Offline

Biometrics is the information related to your 12 digits unique number or aadhaar card. The aadhaar card user can easily lock and unlock the information fed into it.

The data includes privacy and confidential information. According to UIDAI, this information is used for the authentication of the aadhaar.

UIDAI has done its best in every section, from checking your update status to unlock the biometric data. So here are the instructions you need to follow in case you want to unlock the biometric lock.

Open the UIDAI website and click on the “lock/unlock biometrics” link.

Next page will appear, enter your 12 digits unique number and the security code under the “lock your biometrics” section.                                                                           

Fill the details in the areas specified.

One time password will be sent to your registered mobile number. Enter the OTP in the particular section and log in.

Once you are done with the login process, enter the security code again and click on Enable. Your biometrics will be locked then.                                                          

Don’t forget to unlock your biometrics otherwise, you won’t be able to use the biometric authentication for other services.

When the process is done, the screen will display a confirmation message.

You can also unlock your biometrics temporarily in case you require it for the authentication. Below are the instructions you need to follow while unlocking your biometrics.

With the same method applied earlier, use the OTP to log in.

Once you log in, enter the security code and click on ‘Disable’ to disable your biometrics lock.

Use this lock/unlock facility with care to prevent any problem while the authentication process.
