Students Must Have Aadhar Card to Get Central Government Scholarships

Aadhar Card have become essential for every people and it serves with a lot of benefits like applying for passport, driving licence, to get subsidy in LPG, to buy a new sim card, or if your child is lost, his residence can be found with the detailed information in his/her Aadhar Card.

Aadhar Card to Get Central Government Scholarships

Recently, on 17th February 2017, Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry has brought to everybody’s notice that every College and University students should have an Aadhar card in order to avail the beneficial scheme of Central Government Scholarship.

In this scheme, if any student applies for a scholarship from the University Grant Commission (UGC) or the State government, then they must have an Aadhar card issued by the UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India).

As per the notice, those students who receives these scholarship but do not possess an Aadhar card, should apply for it on or before 30th June, 2017. Jammu and Kashmir are exempted from this scheme, but if any candidate is applying for NEET exam from 2017 onwards, having an Aadhar card is mandatory.

In another notice for school students, the ministry made it clear that those students who desire to avail the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme, should also have an Aadhar card or apply for it by June 30.

Since it is not possible for every citizens in this country to have an Aadhar card, the Central Government understands it and thus relieved the students from Jammu and Kashmir, Meghalaya and Assam, from the need of Aadhar card.

Benefits of Aadhar Card in Scholarship Schemes

  • Ministry officials believe that this move would ease the scholarship distribution process and would be fair for all the deserving candidates, and the misuse of these scholarships would be stopped.
  • The transparency and smoothness in this scheme would relief every student to submit multiple paper documents.
  • If suppose a candidate did not receive his Aadhar card yet, then he is free to apply for the scholarship by showing his Aadhar Enrollment ID slip, Voter identity card, Aadhar enrollment application, or by showing his PAN card, but by 30th June 2017, he should have the Aadhar Card with him, else his scholarship would be cancelled.

To apply for any vacant posts in Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs), one should compulsorily have an Aadhar Card and mention its number in the registration form. This would prevent any kind of impersonation and imitations during the examination.

With the help of Aadhar card number, the examiner can go through the detailed identification of the examine and any kinds of cheating could be prevented.

The bank account of every student would be linked with their Aadhar number, so that they can apply for the scholarship or fellowship without any hassle.

Corruption would also get reduced to a great extent as there would be no misuse in the distribution of scholarship to the highly deserving candidates, since the officers who would be dealing with the scholarship distribution would be appointed by the State Government itself. 🙂
